De Bortoli Windy Peak Viognier 2007 (Australia)

Ah Viognier, one of the nicest white grapes doing the rounds these days. Luscious, aromatic and flavoursome white wines with a trademark tasting note of apricots, peaches, or nectarines. Usually fairly recognisable, regardless of region or producer, Viognier pairs brilliantly with rich chicken dishes, and spicier middle-eastern and asian cuisine.

This one has a fabulous aromatic hit of apricots, musk and spice on the nose, and a lovely light straw colour. The mouth is dominated by the apricot flavours, but has a real finesse and elegance provided by spicy notes and a touch of peach. Very elegant and soft, and proving very popular with customers who try it, this is a lovely wine.

We’re tasting it all weekend (2/4/2010 – 5/4/2010) and are running special offers throughout. Well worth a free sip at least!
